Get a Fresh Start with Access Checking

What is Access Checking?

Access Checking¹ was specifically designed to cater to individuals who have faced difficulties in opening checking accounts elsewhere. This account is ideal for those who may have had a less-than-perfect banking history. Access Checking assists our Members in establishing or rebuilding a positive relationship with their checking account and financial institution, ultimately leading to a better financial future.

Access Checking offers a safe and low-fee solution, with no overdraft or nonsufficient funds (NSF) fees, along with a range of free features. Although it’s a checkless checking account—meaning you can’t write checks, but can still receive them—maintaining the account is still highly beneficial. You can conveniently make payments using your debit card at any establishment that accepts cards, particularly useful for cashless shops, vendors, events, and online purchases.

Access Financial Success with Access Checking

Access Checking puts the power back in the Member’s hands. This checking account provides our Members access to the tools they need to succeed, and to manage and improve their financial life. This account has no minimum balance requirement to maintain it. Additionally, it provides numerous free features, such as a Debit Mastercard®,² direct deposit, eStatements, two cashier's checks per day, 24/7 Mobile App access, and our Relationship Rewards Program. The monthly service fee for Access Checking is only $5. By encouraging responsible spending within your means, Access Checking helps you avoid costly overdraft and NSF fees.

More Benefits to Enjoy

We strive to support you in every possible way by offering convenience and tools for your financial success. With Access Checking, you have the option to set up account alerts to stay informed about your balance and avoid overspending. These alerts can be customized for low balance notifications, deposits and withdrawals, daily balance updates, and direct deposit confirmations. Through our extensive CO-OP network, you can access your funds at nearly 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs using your debit card. Furthermore, you’ll have complimentary access to our Member Resource Center, which provides valuable financial wellness resources such as debt and credit coaching through our partners at GreenPath, webinars, calculators, articles, and guides. After maintaining an Access Checking account for 12 months and meeting all requirements, you’ll have the opportunity to switch to a Basic Checking account, if desired.

How do I know if I don’t have good banking or credit history?

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you can request a free copy of your consumer disclosure report at least once every year. Your consumer disclosure report is maintained by ChexSystems, a banking reporting agency that collects information about your banking history.
